What a day! Wall-to-wall sunshine, warmish, with a blue sky.” We cut across a small park, then went up steps to street level. I took us in the direction of Mount Fløyen, but we ended up going too high, and after asking directions bore right and descended again. Janet wrote: “We became slightly lost but were delighted to find ourselves in an area of beautiful and quaint wooden houses and steep cobbled streets. We eventually found the Mount Fløyen funicular…” 13:27:44 Back out again after lunch 13:27:54 Mount Fløyen 13:39:41 13:47:38 The Fløibanen It cost us 80 NKr each. “…And without delay,” Janet continued, “were heading up the mountain in the same part of the vehicle as a wedding party. We then returned to our cabin and I washed my hair, with a bit of a struggle! Looked SO much better. It was a mess. [John] had a kip. At 5.15pm I roused [John]. He said he wasn’t hungry (felt a bit ill) and would give dinner a miss. However, he got up and dressed, and we went for dinner and he was fine. Ate all of the chef’s menu choices anyway! The coffees weren’t hot so I suggested we go to the Boat House for one instead. (I like to have two coffees at least!) As usual it was draughty there, but the coffee was hot. We then returned to our cabin to check what entertainment there was—”
“—and then headed for the Holyrood [Show Lounge]. We sat with Anne and Brian. The show was songs from the musicals (singing and dancing) and was good fun. ([John] had two wheat beer and I had two Diet Coke [Coca-Cola Light] there.) Anne and Brian left around 9.15pm and we did at 9.45pm” — shortly before 9.35pm, it must have been, because I went up on deck from the cabin to take the photo below. |
