Iceland, Faroes and Northern Isles Cruise
At sea

“Your daily programme”

Janet’s alarm clock sounded at 6.20am. I was feeling unwell… We went down to the Waldorf Restaurant for breakfast. I managed to consume Sugar Puffs with milk, orange juice, and something designated “coffee”. I’ve started drinking coffee without milk, but I needed to add milk to this substance designated “coffee”. Janet arrived with an omelette which I couldn’t bear to look at, and when the man opposite came back with a plate including eggs which smelled quite strongly, I had to depart rapidly and return to the cabin. This was ca.8am. I went back to bed till mid-afternoon. When Janet came back from breakfast she lay on the bed for an hour or so. At 11 o’clock she went to the lecture on Iceland, “Fire and Ice”; then, shortly after returning to the cabin, she went for lunch. When she returned she lay down again. She hadn’t slept well these past two nights. Ca.3pm we both got up, and I felt a lot better. Shortly before 3.30pm we went to Marco’s Restaurant for afternoon tea. I went out to the Pool Bar, got a 40cl glass of Bitburger draught lager (15:30) and took it back in. I had a couple of little ham-and-salami sandwiches, and later a little bacon, lettuce and tomato toasted sandwich. Janet went out and got herself a Colibri “mocktail” (15:39). We went past the shops on that deck to the Captain’s Club, where Janet had a hot chocolate and I two “American coffees” (16:12, 16:26) — definitely coffee, here! After we returned to the cabin I saw land out of the window (on the port side) and went out to take photos. Unfortunately, in setting up for a video I inadvertently deleted the photos, of which one or two showed interesting cliff-formations. Took the video and 10 other photos.

At 6 o’clock Janet and I went for dinner to Marco’s Restaurant, where as yesterday there I had cold items then hot. I had a Bitburger draught lager and Janet had a Fanta orange-flavoured soft drink (18:20). When we returned to the cabin, Liudmyla the cabin steward saw us and said she was pleased that I was now well again. She pointed out on “Your daily programme” for tomorrow where it said, “Time change: Please put your clocks and watches back one hour…” A bit later, I transferred one video (19:11) and 10 photos (19:12) from the camera to the WD Elements HDD. Janet showered, did this and that, and wrote up her journal. She went to bed ca.8pm (now “ca.7pm”, as we thought). I was writing up this account (to 20:21, or “19:21” as I thought). The sea, described in “Your daily programme” as “moderate” (sometimes, though, it had been hard to stand and walk because of the rocking motion of the ship), became quite calm when I went to bed.
