stonk

/stɒŋk/
to walk with bouncing, long-legged strides.
See:
Jones’ first visit to Chris’s house
Jones and Manchester, par.4
Jones’s trial before the Disciplinary Court
The word is not explicitly used in the stories David Jones, David Jones, and The destruction of Manchester; but “he strode forth, with long, bouncing steps”, “walking with bouncing, long-legged strides”, and “he bounced… in true kangaroo manner” clearly indicate stonking. I seem to think that the word — used onomatopoeically: “stonk! stonk! stonk!” — was a coining of Peter Gooding’s (cf. To cure me of being a “claustrobe”).
