The diary-entry for today is as follows:

Had Physics practical
exam: playing about with
a prism and mirror. Pretty
hard—couldn’t do it right.
Maths—chemi—home. Went
to Aud’s for tea—then came to
our house.

Maths—chemi—home: Presumably, after the Physics Practical examination, there was a period of Mathematics (always abbreviated “Maths” in British English) and one of Chemistry, before I caught the bus home.
