John Edward Cooper’s Notes
Saturday 5th March 1966
The diary-entry for today is as follows:
An exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls was shown at the John Rylands Library, Manchester.
Sat.—Went to see dead sea scrolls.
Bit disappointing. It’s the writings
of a Jewish Sect called Essenes
at Qumran also other scrolls. Controversy ’cos they
had a ceremony like our
breaking of bread service, and
various other doctrines. Not
very impressed. I think I’m
convinced enough that my
God is real.
