1966 The diary-entry for today is as follows: Pumps—also called plimsolls: rubber-soled lace-up canvas shoes for sports. Letter from Ellen Dyson, postmarked “HYDE, CHESHIRE, 7.30 PM 10 FEB 1966” Barbara: See Holiday in Scarborough — Day One, par.8; Holiday in Scarborough — Day Five, Chris’s comments. In them, he says, “Barbara came to visit me in Thornton.” Evidently, he also visited her in Broadbottom, for Ellen Dyson wrote, “I told Chris…” I either didn’t write back to Ellen Dyson, or I did once and Audrey disapproved. I was really shocked and shaken nearly four years later to read in a Sunday newspaper that she had been killed. Click on images to enlarge |
